Overview
Darla is a sweet, affectionate girl who thrives in a calm, low-traffic home where she can enjoy plenty of love and attention, and being part of the family. She adores cuddles, belly rubs, and snuggling close-often climbing onto your lap despite her size. While she's not overly clingy, she does love being near her people (person) and will happily nap on her bed (or yours) when it's quiet. Her ideal family will be patient and experienced with shy or sensitive dogs, able to gently guide her as she continues building confidence in the outside world. Walks in busy or noisy areas are still overwhelming for Darla, so a quiet home with a secure backyard for her morning zoomies is a must while she works up to walks in peaceful areas. Darla is house-trained, enjoys her soft toys, and doesn't chew on things she shouldn't. She's not fussy with food but may take her time eating. Most importantly, she needs someone who understands that progress takes time and is happy to offer calm reassurance, gentle encouragement, and lots of affection along the way. She may also enjoy the company of another friendly dog-particularly one who can help her build confidence when exploring the world beyond the home. Darla will flourish with someone who's happy to share their space, including their couch-because personal space is just a suggestion in her world! She would make a phenomenal companion, especially for someone who lives alone or is looking for a loyal, loving presence to brighten their days. Note: This dog is currently being cared for in a home and when adopted, it will free up a spot to help another dog.
